Set the base of the sail is b,so the length is b+2,we can get a function as:
b(b+2)/2=24
change this function into simple standard:
b²+2b-48=0
(b-6)(b+8)=0
We can got two roots of the function:6 and -8,but the base of a triangle shouldn't be a minus number,so
b=6
So it's concluded that the base of the sail is 6 meters and bigger than 4 meters...
