Panda is one of the scarcest animals.People in the world like it very much.There used to be many pandas in China long ago.As the balance of nature was destroyed and the weather was getting warmer and warmer,pandas became less.But at present,the number of pandas is increasing year by year.There are now so many pandas that some are being sent to other countries so that people there can enjoy them.
Nowadays,the biggest nature park for panda in China is in Sichuan.There is a research centre for nature and wild life there.Scientists hope that one day they will have enough pandas to be set free and let them live in the wild again
Giant pandas are black-and-white Chinese bears that are on the verge of extinction.These large,cuddly-looking mammals have a big head,a heavy body,rounded ears,and a short tail.
The Chinese people call the panda "Da xiong mao," which means "giant bear cat" in Chinese.The panda is a symbol of peace in China.
This bear is quite different from other bears.It has unusual cat-like eyes,and its front paws have an opposable "thumb."
Female pandas are called sows,males are called boars,and the young are called cubs.

Most bears' eyes have round pupils.The exception is the giant panda,whose pupils are vertical slits,like cats' eyes.These unusual eyes inspired the Chinese to call the panda the "giant cat bear."

Pandas are lovely animals .Most of them live in the deep forests of Sichuan Province in China.They have white furs,though their shoulders ,legs,ears and eyes are black .Pandas are usually very heavy.Some of them can be about 1.5meters tall and weigh aobout 100kilograms.However ,pandas are very agile .They can climb trees as easily as some other animals do
Pandas live on bamboo leaves .They have big and sharp teeth .Every day each grown-up panda eats about 15-30 kilograms of bamboo leaves and they usually spend 10-12 hours eating.They like climbing trees and sleeping.
They are our friends But there are not many pandas in the world now .Some people cut down trees,some people kill them .So we must do our best to look after them.
