i wish he were at home?
Native speakers would only say "I wish he was at home."
"I wish he were at home" is grammatically correct,but if you use it in everyday life,you are speaking like a book.It is unnatural,awkward,and not idiomatic.
I have always believed and have always advocated that grammatically correct English is not necessarily good English.The reason is native speakers DO NOT say it that way.
I'm talking about the reality in English use,but you have to remember you are going to sit tests designed by your teacher.I DO NOT want you to lose marks.
You can't say the verb "be" in the object clause of "wish" should always be used in the form of "were".YOU CAN NOT SAY THAT.
Here is a perfect example:
I wish I had been there.(See?There is no "were"; it is "had been".)
One more:
I wish I had been in China during the 2008 Olympic Games.(Where is the "were"?There is no "were",and you should not use "were" actually.)

如果是对过去的作wish,宾从就用过去完成时,如上面的两例.
如果是对现在或将来作wish,宾从就用一般过去时：
I wish I was at my granddad's now.
I wish I was at the Oxford University in five years time.
