A ship hull form design methodology based on the modularisation concept such that a large number of designs can be evolved in a short time satisfying varied technical requirements is presented in this work.A ship has been conceived as consisting of three modularised hull parts:aft body,mid body and fore body.A case has been made to suggest that it is possible to standardise the hull form of the work intensive areas such as the aft body and the fore body.The mid body,on the other hand,can be lengthened/shortened to suit the cargo/payload requirements,and the prismatic can be varied to suit speed and producibility requirements.Using this concept one aft body,two fore bodies and six mid bodies have been developed and a total of twelve ship forms have been generated for different cargo types.All the twelve ship forms,mentioned,above,have been model tested and results are presented sup-porting the above contentions regarding fore body and aft body characteristics.
