为什么不选C呢 我的理解是主语是earthquake 定语happened on the afternoon of May 12th in Sichuan修饰这个earthquake 句子缺一个谓语所以选C 可是答案是B理解不能!

为什么不选C呢 我的理解是主语是earthquake 定语happened on the afternoon of May 12th in Sichuan修饰这个earthquake 句子缺一个谓语所以选C 可是答案是B理解不能!
A great earthquake 是句子的主语,happened是句子的谓语动词,而后边是一个逗号,所以空处不能再填一个谓语动词了,所以只能在A和B中间选,A选项中不定式表示后面的事态还未发生,根据句子意思,地震发生过程中就会造成后边的后果,thousands of deaths是由 great earthquake造成的,是一种主动关系,所以选B.
