TERMINATION OF CONTRACT
Notice of termination
46.The Ministry may at a ny time fo r any reason terminate your em ployment by
giving you 3 months’ n otice in writi ng of su ch intention or paying 3 month s’ gross
salary in lieu of notice.
47.You may at any time after the expiry of 3 months from the date of your first
appointment,terminate your employment by giving the Ministry 3 months’ notice in
writing of such intention or by payi ng 3 months’ gross salary in li eu of notice.If you
leave the service of the Ministry at any time before the expiry of 3 m onths from the
date of your first appointment,you shall pay to the Ministry 3 months’ gross monthly
salary.If you are unable to give the required period of notice of resignation and seek
to be released from the Service before the end of the notice period,you shall pay to
the Ministry the salary and allowances for the number of days short of tha t notice
period.In the event of termination under this clause,you will not be eligible for a pro-
rata contract gratuity or free air passage back to your home country for yourself and
your family.In addition,you shall refund to the Ministry on demand the amount paid
for your air passage and departure tax to Singapore or for that of your family.
48.If a Singapore Government Medical Officer certifies that you are incapable by
reason of any infirmity of mind or body of rendering further efficient service (such ill-
health/incapacity not being caused by your own m isconduct),your service may be
terminated without the requisite 3 months’ notice.
Termination of contract without notice
49.Your se rvice w ill be te rminated imme diately an d without notice fr om the
Ministry under any of the following circumstances:
a.You fail your medical examination;
b.You have made material and operative misrepresentation in your job
application and/or pre-employment medical examination form;
c.You fail to obtain or renew your work pass;
d.Your work pass is cancelled by the Ministry for any reason whatsoever,
except wh en the wo rk pass is cancelled a s a result of you being

granted Singapore Permanent Resident status;
e.Your Sing apore Pe rmanent Resid ent status is rev oked b y the
Singapore Government for any reason whatsoever;
f.You give up or are deprived of your Sin gapore Citizenship status for
any reason whatsoever; or
g.You are prevented from entry or re-entry into Singapore or is expelled
from Singapore by any Government authority.
In the e vent of such t ermination,you will not b e el igible f or a pr o-rata c ontract
gratuity or free air passage back to your home country for yourself and your family.
