the frightening thing for many cities is that thy can't widen roads any more,like Mumbai or Bangalore.Bangalore ,for example,has five million vehicles on its roads for a city of 9.5million people and3500 vehicles add to the roads every day.

Ravindran says,"The more roads and parking space you provide, the more cars will come in and there will be more traffic jams .The answer lies in reducing the roads and parking space to discourage use of cars. This is being done in many countries"
in Budapest,s city centre .only two lanes have been provided for cars while the remaining area has been reserved for pedestrians and cyclists. in Copenhagen, the amount of parking space is being reduced for car owners
Some Indian cities are working on similar lines .Bangalore ,foe one,is now building 10 new roads where two meters have been removed from moter lanes while new lanes for cyclists and pedestrians are being created.
