e able to 可以表示在过去某个特定条件下某人具有的能力.主观因素和客观因素都包括在内,而 can/could不表客观因素.
大部分情况下,二者是一样的!
但是你要知道,be able to 强调的是"克服了某种困难后能够..."比如说i was able to escape from the fire after shooting for 1 hour.."
而且be able to还有"碰巧做成了某事",比如说"he was able to beat her",这里的意思就是说,他本来是不能战胜她的,但是昨晚上他却赢了!
而且在同一个意思时,be able to 多强调"能够做某事"而can多强调"有XX能力去做某事"!
这就是be able to 和can在意思上的一些区别!
在用法上,can可以在疑问句,否定句中做推断!比如说he can't be here for he was outside just now.这里的cann't表示的就是不可能的意思!而could可以推断肯定句!比如说he could have done it这里的意思就是说,他其实能做到,但是他没有做到!
