The eye-movement apparatus used in this experiment is the EyelinkII helmet -type eye-movement apparatus produced by Canadian SR company.
Researching the effect of the background music on the eye movement of expository essay’s reading. The people be tested were randomly divided into three experimental groups with significant proportion of men and women, respectively, reading the same article under the conditions as follow, in classical music, pop music and no music background,. That each group was tested in a music background reading the instructions text under the same condition.
The dependent variable indicators are: average fixation duration, average saccade amplitude, the total fixation duration, fixation frequency, pupil size, the average pupil diameter, saccade frequency and reading achievement. The results showed that the average fixation time of the eye movement in the background condition main effect (classical music background conditions, pop music background conditions, no music background conditions) significantly, but the average saccade amplitude, duration, pupil size, the average pupil diameter, Saccadic eye movement six times the background conditions in the main effect was not significant. Type main effect of gender (male, female) was not significant.
Results show that:
